The Refreshment of Forgiveness
Psalm 130
REALITY: Sin is universal. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
REGRET: Acknowledging the reality of our sin is manifested in our experience of guilt and regret.
REPENTANCE: As God’s people, we respond to the conviction of sin with true repentance and seek God’s forgiveness.
RESTORATION: God forgives! His forgiveness leads to being restored in our fellowship with Him.
REDEMPTION: God’s true purpose is to bring full redemption to us all.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.
we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name. Amen.
